How to Create the Right First Impression
It’s an old cliché but first impressions really do count. In order for
your event to be judged a success, you need to create a good first impression
and the easiest way to do this is by making your guests gasp as soon as they
enter your reception. There are so many things you can do to decorate your
tables or reception to a high standard. But before we get there, you need to do
some planning.
Planning a wedding reception can be a daunting experience - an awful lot
of attention and detail is required to ensure this event is the best it
possibly can be. So it's not surprising many brides and celebrants don't know
where to start.
Get this bit right and the rest of the process becomes much easier and
enjoyable.
Get it wrong
and you’re letting yourself in for undue stress.
Imagine you’re are organizing a charity dinner, or hosting a birthday
party or wedding, Do you want the guests to turn up at yet another bland
function with the room turned out as it normally would be for a standard event
or would you prefer to ‘wow’ them as soon as they enter the room?
I bet most of you said yes to the second part…lol
So now consider this. If your clients leave your event with a feeling
that it was ordinary, they’re not going to recall that you managed to save a
few quid. Similarly, if the event is hailed a triumph (and this must be your
main goal) they’re not going to give two hoots that you spent a little extra.
If you can create an event that’s visually stimulating at the outset,
then that sets the tone for the rest of your event. If you can then get the
other elements right such as catering, lighting and production, entertainment
or speaker then you’re practically guaranteed to have a successful event.
Visually stimulating events will make your clients and guests think
about their surroundings and give them something to immediately talk about.
That can be the ultimate ice-breaker.
Having an attention grabbing feel or look to your event immediately lets
everyone connect on a similar emotional level which is generally a better way to
start proceedings than waiting for someone to break the ice with some
meaningless small talk.
Your event is an opportunity to have a day all about you. It’s a chance
for you to be truly personal and share with your guests who you really are.
Your individual personalities and styles can be reflected throughout your whole
day - everything from what you wear to the type of ceremony you have, to the
food choices you make and the decorations on your table top – so it’s time to
get excited and be inspired!
